A Video Report helped the farmers repay their loans.

The farmers in India often get trampled on, either from erratic climate patterns or exploitative financial institutions or other forms of injustices. In this instance, the Community Correspondent (CC) Maya Khodve found a glaring glitch regarding farmers' loans in Nashik, Maharashtra.

The Farmers from Dhondegaon village in Nashik district have been visiting NDCC (Nashik District Girna Co-Operative Bank) repeatedly to finish their loan account for the last 2 years. The issue the farmers were facing is that of an administrative nature. The bank officials were insisting that they should pay back by cash, whereas the farmers are requesting the bank officials that as their family members' accounts are in the same bank and they have the amount to pay off the loan, the bank should allow them to transfer their family members money to repay the loan. The Bank tellers were adamant that it can't be done.

To find a solution, the farmers along with Maya Khodve went on to meet the Chief Executive Officer of NDCC Bank Mr. Pingle and explain to him the issue of repayment. Mr Pingle accepted their argument and found that it is unnecessary to hold back the repayment of loans when the farmers are ready to pay from their families accounts from the same bank. This will make the loan collections faster and will relieve the farmers of the compound interest that are levied, also new loans could be given out. Mr Pingle issued an order in this regard and the farmers sighed in relief.

The farmers would not have met the CEO of the bank, if not Ms Maya Khodve intervened and encouraged them to find a solution to their problems. Please share this story of courage and conviction that Maya Khodve instilled in the farmers minds.
